The New Orleans Saints hosted the USA Football Coaching School, a clinic designed to prepare youth and high school coaches to effectively teach the game of football, on June 7th.

The school, which was held at the Saints training facility in Metairie, was a one-day event that offered coaches the best technique to communicate with young players, teachers and parents, teach fundamentals for every position, organize their season with practice planning, identifying and establishing the best drills for individuals, as well as groups and team periods and generally developing better schemes and sets for offense, defense and special teams.

The coaches took advantage of the resources that the Saints provided, learning proper technique in the team meeting rooms and actually taking part in some on-field drills of their own in the indoor practice facility. Saints’ Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach Doug Marrone also spoke to the youth coaches about teaching character and commitment. He offered testimonials of past experiences that helped him grow into a successful NFL coach.

USA Football is a non-profit organization leading the development and growth of youth, high school and international amateur football.
