th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft.
COLLEGE CAREER – Nicks played in 23 games at Nebraska, starting 13 contests, including 11 at left tackle in 2007 and two at right tackle in 2006. During his two seasons with the Cornhuskers, he allowed just one sack. As a senior, he was named second-team All-Big 12 while registering 76 knockdown blocks. Nicks opened his college career at New Mexico State in 2003, where he appeared in five games as a reserve defensive tackle, before spending a year at Hartnell Junior College, where he played offensive tackle. He enrolled at Nebraska in 2006.
2007 – Started 11 games at LT and allowed just one sack on 481 pass plays, and only called for one penalty on a total of 898 downs played.…All-Big 12 second-team selection…Graded 83.4 percent for blocking consistency.
2006 – Appeared in all 11 games, serving as top backup at RT, started final two games, including conference championship game…also played special teams.
2005 – Attended Hartnell (Salinas, Calif.) JC, earning first-team All-California accolades.
2004 – Switched to offensive guard in spring drills at New Mexico State, but was ruled academically ineligible.
2003 – Played as a reserve defensive tackle as a true freshman at New Mexico State…Recorded three tackles and recovered a fumble.
PERSONAL – Sociology major…He and wife, Bridget, have a daughter (Serena)…Attended Salinas (Calif.) HS, where he was a standout defensive tackle and named Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2002 in his region…While at Hartnell Junior College, also competed on the track team in shot put and discus.
