NFL CAREER – A proven veteran with a wealth of experience, Nesbit is the rare combination at guard who is a force whether clearing out defenders for the rushing attack or protecting the quarterback in the passing game. He has started 87 games in his career – including the last 32 at left guard for the Saints – and his leadership and savvy are key components for an offensive line that surrendered a league-low 16 sacks in 2007. Nesbit, who was re-signed to a three-year contract in the offseason prior to becoming an unrestricted free agent, is also extremely versatile. Since arriving in New Orleans in 2004, he has seen time at both guard positions, at right tackle and as a reserve at center before settling in as the starter at left guard. Known as one of his units most prepared players on a weekly basis, the former undrafted free agent was a consistent starter for the Carolina Panthers from 1999-2002, opening 45 of 53 games before signing with Jacksonville in 2003.
