CAREER TRANSACTIONS – Signed to a three-year contract, 6/18/07; Selected in the seventh round (220th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft.
COLLEGE CAREER – Rugged middle linebacker led the Volunteers in tackles last season with 104 tackles while adding 10 tackles for losses, three pass defenses and a pair of forced fumbles. Mitchell, a team captain in 2006, played in 40 games (15 starts) during his career and finished with 154 stops. 2006 – Started all 13 contests and voted a permanent team captain for the final eight games…Set a career-high with 15 stops vs. Florida…Totaled a game-high 12 tackles in Outback Bowl vs. Penn State. 2005 – Opened two of 11 games… Had three tackles and a forced fumble vs. Alabama…Two of his four tackles vs. Notre Dame were for losses. 2004 – Medical redshirt after suffering knee injury in previous year’s bowl practice. 2003 – Played in all 12 games, primarily on special teams, recording four tackles and a blocked punt…Also had an interception on defense…Suffered knee injury while preparing for Peach Bowl. 2002 – Played in four games, notching eight tackles.
