NFL CAREER – After two seasons with the Saints, Fujita is firmly established as one of the club’s top defenders, a consistent performer who immediately emerged as a leader of the unit and was voted a captain by his teammates. The first defensive free agent New Orleans signed in 2006 after Sean Payton and his staff took over, Fujita has posted a team-high 238 tackles, 6.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, two interceptions and a pair of fumble recoveries since his arrival. He is a constant in every scheme as the versatile Fujita rarely leaves the field, both dropping into coverage and filling gaps against the run with equal effectiveness. He paced the Saints in 2006 with 119 stops, a total he equaled last season, fueled by a career-best 79 solo tackles. His three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 2007 were also career-highs. Including stints with Kansas City (2002-04) and Dallas (2005), the seventh-year veteran has played in 95 games in his career, with 80 starts. Fujita was a fifth-round pick by the Chiefs in 2002 and was traded to Dallas just days before the kickoff of the 2005 regular season.
