NFL CAREER – Copper has been invaluable as a special teams performer and as productive component of the passing attack since arriving in New Orleans in 2006. Over the last two seasons, the fifth-year veteran has made contributions across the board for the Saints, hauling in 38 passes for 511 yards and five touchdowns, returning six kickoffs for 128 yards, taking a reverse for eight yards and recording 14 stops and a fumble recovery on the coverage units. Copper has played in 30 games for New Orleans, with five starts, since being claimed off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys on the eve of the 2006 regular season. He initially emerged as a viable target over the last half of that season, when he posted a career-best 23 receptions for 385 yards and three TDs. His most memorable catch in 2006 was a 48-yard “Hail Mary” reception at Atlanta while surrounded by a handful of defenders. Copper was re-signed to a two-year contract in the offseason before entering free agency.

COLLEGE – One of the most productive receivers in East Carolina history, departing second in school record books with 139 receptions and fourth in ECU history with 1,683 receiving yards…As a senior led Conference USA with 87 grabs for 897 yards and a pair of TDs, also returning 27 punts for 124 yards…As a junior, hauled in 30 passes for 395 yards and returned 30 punts for 328 yards…Industrial technology major.
PERSONAL – Earned honorable mention All-America honors from USA Today as a senior at Washington (N.C.) HS, where he was a three-time all-conference and all-area selection…Selected to play in the 1999 Shrine Bowl and East/West All-Star Game.
