Chauncey McCoy is a 2nd year member from Monroe, LA. She is a graduate of Neville High School, received her BS Psychology from Southern University Baton Rouge, where she became a four year member of The Southern University's Dancing Dolls. During college, she competed in the Miss America Organization at the state and local levels under the title Miss Bayou Diamond. In 2012, she reigned as Miss Black Louisiana where she traveled the state implementing her platform, "Volunteerism: The Blueprint to Successful Youth Development".Â
Upon graduating, she obtained her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. Chauncey is entering her 9th year as an educator and loves nothing more than empowering young minds to become productive contributors to their communities. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., an international service organization and the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African-American college-educated women.
Her favorite thing about being a part of the Saints Entertainment Team so far is the supportive community and friendships that she's made. Chauncey is most excited about interacting with the fans on gameday "What I love most about Saints game days, is the energy and comradery of our fans! I literally can't help smiling at them. Their joy overflows and embodies everything that New Orleans represents! Her favorite quote to live by is "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." -Maya Angelou
Advice I would give to someone auditioning for Saint Cheer Krewe would be to prepare your body, attitude, dance technique, interview skills, resume and learn the style as much as you can. Most importantly, be confident and have fun. Auditions are an experience that you will never forget, no matter the outcome.
