Sure to be a Pro Football Hall of Famer one day after he retires, Adrian Peterson enters his 11th season in the NFL. After nearly 12,000 rushing yards and 97 rushing touchdowns with the Minnesota Vikings, "All Day," is sporting a new uniform. Joining a backfield with Mark Ingram II and Alvin Kamara, Peterson will wear black and gold in 2017.
After a 10-year run as a Viking, the seven time Pro Bowler's time in Minnesota came to a close. Ultimately, Peterson landed with the New Orleans Saints after making his rounds in free agency.
Not needed to be the lead back or even the focal point of the offense, Peterson's role will be significantly different than it was a few years ago. This should be beneficial to the former NFL MVP as he will not have to take as many hits.
The three-time rushing champ spoke about playing with quarterback in Drew Brees, who also will be a Pro Football Hall of Famer.
"Just taking a lot of pressure off my shoulders. Having a guy that's here and established, he (Drew Brees) is that guy here. Having a future Hall of Fame quarterback, by itself, right there is game-changer."
Throughout OTAs and minicamp, Peterson received nothing but positive reviews.
Saints Coach Sean Payton spoke about his new running back during OTAs:
"He has picked things up well. He has been here through the whole offseason program (since he signed with the team). He is in good shape and moving around well. It is good to be able to get out and do some football movements and get that timing down. He has done well."
Peterson's new quarterback has nothing but respect for him too. Brees spoke about the team's new weapon out of the backfield:
"Well Adrien Peterson, look at his career. He has an ACL injury and he comes back and rushes for 2,000 yards. I mean what that guy has accomplished in the face of a lot of adversity has been tremendous. I mean from every word I've heard about his work ethic in the offseason to prepare himself for the season is that this guy is a workhorse."
