2017 season recap: The Washington Redskins missed the playoffs for the fourth time in four years after going 7-9 in the regular season. New Orleans faced off against the Redskins on Nov. 19 and came back from a 15-point deficit in the final six minutes of regulation. After a field goal from kicker Wil Lutz, the Saints defeated the Redskins in overtime 34-31 to extend their winning streak to eight games. The Redskins could not overcome the amount of injuries they were saddled with during the season. Star quarterback Kirk Cousins had another solid season, passing for 4,093 yards and a completion percentage of .643, but it was not enough to bring Washington out of the hole. Following the season, the Redskins traded for quarterback Alex Smith, who spent the last five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and threw for 4,042 yards last season, and Kirk Cousins left for the Minnesota Vikings.
