Demario Davis, a New Orleans Saints linebacker acquired from the Jets in free agency, is coming off of his most productive season with a team-high 135 tackles and five sacks. Davis has gotten his feet wet with the Saints defense by participating in off season training activities and mini camp, but will look to further his knowledge during New Orleans Saints Training Camp presented by Verizon.
"You know what the offseason process is like, that you've got to build it brick by brick, that nobody's winning the Super Bowl right now," Davis said during OTAs. Davis signed a three-year contract with the Saints and will add veteran leadership to the team’s defense.
"Obviously, he is one of those guys that (is) experienced. I think when you talk about a front player like him, you get to find so much more when you put shoulder pads on (in training camp)," Saints Coach Sean Payton said. "But he's smart, he's picked things up right away, he's got good leadership, he's done well. He's had a good offseason here and he's been a good addition for us. As we get into camp when we put the pads on I think it becomes a little bit easier to evaluate a linebacker."
Come check out Davis and the new members of the Saints during New Orleans Saints Training Camp presented by Verizon beginning on July 26. The first open practice is Saturday, July 28.
