Brandin Cooks, the New Orleans Saints' first-round draft pick in 2014, said he expects to be faster this season because of his improved knowledge of the offense.
In just 10 games last season the speedster from Oregon State had 53 receptions for 550 yards and three touchdowns. With the trades of receiver Kenny Stills and tight end Jimmy Graham look for Saints quarterback Drew Brees to target the 5-foot-10, 189-pound Cooks even more than last season.
"He's in his second year with a lot more knowledge of what we're doing," Coach Sean Payton said. "That allows the player to play a little faster. He's healthy and he's doing well. He's progressed well."
He said it: "It's just being confident out there on the field and really knowing my playbook down to a 'T.' So it's taking the thinking part out of it when it comes to that, and being able to play faster."
