<span style="">The New Orleans Saints announced Tuesday they have signed rookie free agent defensive end Jeremy Geathers and waived defensive tackle Tim McGill.
Geathers, a 6-2, 245-pound defensive end, played two college seasons in Las Vegas after transferring to UNLV from Butler (Kan.) Community College and started 22 of 23 games he played for the Rebels, recording 72 tackles with 11 sacks, leading them in quarterback takedowns both seasons. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Saints on May 5, 2008, Geathers spent most of the offseason with the club before being waived prior to the start of training camp. He is the son of former Saints and NFL star defensive lineman Jumpy Geathers, who played six of his 13 NFL seasons with the Saints from 1984-89 and recorded 26 sacks for the Saints. Geathers was born in New Orleans and grew up in Andrews, South Carolina.
