The Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District voted Thursday, Nov. 14 to approve the first phase of the planned $450 million renovation of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome by approving a construction firm, NOLA.com reported.
The first renderings from Trahan Architects were released as well.
Broadmoor was approved as the construction firm for the first phase, which largely will consist of back-of-house work, building a large kitchen and food-service area and adding exits to prepare for the removal of the ramps inside the Dome. The cost of the first phase could reach $100 million. The Saints have agreed to pay for up to $150 million of the total project costs with the LSED and state covering the rest.
