New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 3, it was announced Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Brees led the Saints to a stirring 43-37 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons by passing for three touchdowns and running for two others, including the game-winner on a 1-yard dive over the top.
During the game Brees became the NFL's all-time leader in completions, passing Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre.
Brees was 39 of 49 for 396 yards. He just needs 418 yards to become the NFL's all-time leading passer and he needs four more touchdowns for 500 in his career.
