Ryan Palmer and Jordan Spieth, in town to play in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans team event on the PGA Tour, were able to go "inside the ropes" of an NFL draft room Thursday night courtesy of New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton, who has played with Palmer in the Zurich Classic pro-am multiple times.
In addition to sitting inside the draft room the players received Saints jerseys
Payton was asked about the PGA Tour players' visit during his Thursday evening press conference following the first-round selections of Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore and Wisconsin tackle Ryan Ramczyk.
"They were not around for the second one. They had a curfew," Payton said. "Those guys came by and they played well today. I think to some degree all of us want to be inside the ropes in some way, shape or form. They were able to kind of see first-hand a little bit of what it's like. They brought us some good luck. Hopefully they continue to do well. They had a good first day, didn't they?"
The pair shot a 6-under-par 66 Thursday and matched the score Friday to be in contention for the first Zurich Classic team title.
