In his first game in San Diego against his former team, Drew Brees threw for 351 yards and two touchdowns to lead the New Orleans Saints to a 24-16 win over the San Diego Chargers.
Brees' top targets were Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead, who combined for 8 receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
Mark Ingram led the Saints in rushing with 87 yards on the ground.
After trailing 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, Brees found Cooks and Snead for scores in the second quarter to take a 14-3 halftime lead.
Ingram pushed the Saints lead to 21-6 in the third on a six-yard touchdown catch.
After hitting three field goals through the first quarter quarter, the Chargers finally found the endzone in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard touchdown strike from Philip Rivers to Travis Benjamin. The late TD wasn't enough as the Saints went on to claim the road victory.
