The New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with running back Alvin Kamara on a two-year contract extension, it was announced Tuesday by Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis. With the extension, Kamara is under contract with the Saints through the 2026 season.
Originally selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Tennessee, Kamara is the franchise's all-time leader in total touchdowns (85), rushing touchdowns (60), yards from scrimmage (10,738) and all-purpose yardage (11,396). In eight seasons, Kamara has played in 108 regular season games with 77 starts and has carried 1,426 times for 6,267 yards (4.4 avg.) with 60 touchdowns and has caught 539 passes for 4,471 yards (8.3 avg.) with 24 touchdowns. Kamara is ranked second in franchise record books in rushing yards, needing 234 to become the franchise's all-time rushing leader. His 539 receptions rank third in club record books, 12th all-time among NFL running backs, needing only 15 catches to crack the top 10. Kamara's seven career two-point conversions are tied for first in NFL record books and with his next one, he will become the league record holder. In seven playoff games with four starts, Kamara has carried 93 times for 357 yards with three touchdowns to be the franchise's postseason rushing yardage and rushing touchdowns leader and has also caught 33 passes for 274 yards with one touchdown.
In 2024, the Atlanta native has opened all seven games, carrying 111 times for 438 yards with six touchdowns and caught a club-best 34 passes for 252 yards with a career-long 57-yard touchdown, the only player in the NFL to lead his team in both rushing and receiving. Kamara is ranked third in the NFL in first downs (37), tied for third in rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns and ranked fourth in total yards from scrimmage (690), also leading running backs in receiving.
