New Orleans Saints punter Thomas Morstead was named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday, Oct. 16.
Morstead punted six times for 251 yards with five of the punts being down inside the 20-yard line in the Saints' 13-6 win over the Jaguars in Jacksonville. It was just one in a series of strong performances this season for the veteran punter from SMU. Earlier this season he was named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Month for September and won the weekly award following the team's win at Seattle in Week 3.
The Saints (5-1) are on a four-game winning streak and in first place in the NFC South heading into Sunday's game vs. the Bears in Chicago.
