New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Friday that the club has signed their second, third round draft pick, DT John Jenkins to a four-year contract.
With the agreement with Jenkins, all five members of the club's 2013 draft class are now under contract.
Jenkins, 23, was selected by the Saints in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft with the 82nd overall pick out of the University of Georgia. The 6-foot-3, 359-pound native of Meriden, Conn. played nose guard for two seasons in Athens after transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, starting 20-of-27 contests and recording 78 tackles (36 solo), four sacks for a loss of 26 yards, eight stops for loss, one interception, a pass defense, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. As a senior in 2012, he started all 13 games in the interior and was the club's defensive Co-MVP and was named to Phil Steele's All-Southeastern Conference second-team as he finished with 50 tackles (22 solo), one sack for a loss of nine yards, two stops for a loss, one pass defense and one fumble recovery.
