Saints Morning Break: Fans turn out in force for practice at Tulane

Juwan Johnson and others return to practice field

Saints News from NOLA.com

The New Orleans Saints didn't charge fans to attend Tuesday's practice at Tulane's Yulman Stadium. But if they had, Charlie Smyth's 65 yarder would have been well worth the price of admission.

The New Orleans Saints practiced in front of their fans Tuesday at Tulane's Yulman Stadium, and several of their marquee players returned from injuries just in time. Running back Alvin Kamara and tackle Taliese Fuaga — both of whom were dealing with back tightness — were among those who went through Tuesday evening's session, albeit a lighter workout without pads. Linebacker Pete Werner (shoulder), safety Ugo Amadi (groin) and cornerback Paulson Adebo (groin) also returned.

Kool-Aid McKinstry reportedly should be ready for the New Orleans Saints' season opener, but in case the rookie cornerback's knee injury causes him to miss time before then, his team has added a veteran defensive back.

For the first time in 2024, the New Orleans Saints conducted a training camp practice that was open to the public. An estimated 7,000 fans traveled Uptown to Tulane's Yulman Stadium for a two-hour practice under the lights. The weather was ideal, with lower humidity and a casual breeze blowing at 5-10 mph.

Tight end Juwan Johnson was on the field Tuesday evening for the first time since his offseason foot injury sidelined him as the New Orleans Saints held their open practice at Yulman Stadium.

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has activated tight end Juwan Johnson from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, signed cornerback Joejuan Williams and waived/injured center Sincere Haynesworth.
