IRVINE, Calif. -- New Orleans Saints quarterback Jake Haener said Friday that he has been diagnosed with skin cancer and will undergo a procedure to address the matter. Haener, who sported a small bandage on his right cheek, told reporters he noticed an "odd looking bump" on his face that wouldn't go away, causing him and his family to worry. After undergoing a biopsy, Haener said he received news that the bump was cancerous a week before he was required to report for training camp. See More >>

IRVINE, Calif. — Jake Haener dropped back, surveyed the defense in front of him and found the guy in a No. 22 uniform bolting across the field from his left to right. Haener threw the pass low and toward the sideline, just beyond the reach of a diving Johnathan Abram, and Rashid Shaheed went to the ground to secure the catch. See More >>

Irvine, Calif. – New Orleans Saints second-year quarterback Jake Haener disclosed Friday that he has a rare skin cancer. Haener, a fourth-round pick last year who's battling for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart behind starter Derek Carr, said the condition isn't life-threatening and it has not caused him to miss the team's first three training camp practices at Cal-Irvine.
