The New Orleans Saints announced today the re-signing of receiver/return specialist Courtney Roby. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Roby, 26, earned a spot last season as the team's top kickoff return specialist, based on his impressive five-week period in which he gave the Saints a more than adequate spark in the kickoff return game. The Saints "discovered" Roby last October, signing him as a street free agent after he was released by the Indianapolis Colts. He did not see any action at receiver, but he returned 19 kickoffs for 472 yards (a 24.8-yard average with a long of 62 yards) before being sidelined with an ankle injury in Week 14.
A former third-round pick of the Tennessee Titans, Roby has spent time with the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati benagls and Indianapolis Colts before landing in New Orleans last year.
