New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Wednesday that the club has signed free agent linebacker Anthony Waters.
Waters is entering his third NFL season, having spent two years in San Diego after being selected by the Chargers in the third round of the 2007 draft. The 6-3, 238-pound linebacker from Clemson has played in seven career regular season games, making three tackles on defense and adding three stops and a fumble recovery on special teams. He also played in one postseason contest with the Chargers and recorded a tackle.
Clemson's leading tackler and an honorable mention All-ACC selection during his junior season, Waters suffered a torn ACL in the first game of his senior year that ended his college career. He was inactive for all 16 games as a rookie in 2007 and played in seven last season before being waived by the Chargers in February.
