In a stirring halftime ceremony in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Tom Benson, New Orleans Saints owner from 1985 until his death on March 15, was made the latest addition to the team's Ring of Honor.
Benson, who owned the Saints through all of the Saints' 13 winning seasons, eight playoff victories and Super Bowl win in 2009, becomes the fifth member of the Ring of Honor, joining former Saints greats Rickey Jackson, Willie Roaf, Morten Andersen and Archie Manning.
Saints owner Gayle Benson, General Manager Mickey Loomis and President Dennis Lauscha represented the franchise during the ceremony, which including a moving video tribute and chants of, "Who Dat!"
The franchise never had experienced a winning season before it was bought by Benson. Since, it has won five division titles and posted 11 10-plus win seasons.
