Matt Phillips enters his seventh season with the Saints and first as an area scout, after serving for four years as the club's combine scout.
As the club's combine scout from 2019 through the 2023 NFL Draft, Phillips in his position worked for the Saints and the National Scouting Combine. Phillips' reports on college prospects were shared with other teams that are members of the service. Coming to New Orleans in 2017 following graduation from college, Phillips served as a scouting assistant with the Saints for two seasons.
Phillips graduated from Ohio University in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in sports management and a minor in business administration. As an undergraduate he served as a football recruiting assistant. The Chicago native also served in summer athletic department internships at Northwestern University in 2014 and 2015.
