Michael Parenton enters his 13th season with the New Orleans Saints scouting department and was promoted to vice president of pro personnel in 2024. In charge of the team's pro personnel department since 2021, Parenton plays a key role in the team's overall roster construction and team-building process.
Parenton works daily with Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis to continually upgrade the roster through free agent acquisitions, trades, waiver claims and practice squad signings. He and the team's pro scouts assist Head Coach Dennis Allen and the coaching staff with their weekly preparation for upcoming opponents by providing advance scouting reports during the season.
Parenton was director of pro personnel for the last three seasons and served seven seasons as a pro scout from 2015-21, after beginning his player personnel career as a scouting assistant in 2012.
As a player, Parenton appeared in two games with the New York Jets in 2009 as an offensive lineman and on special teams after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Tulane. The former team captain was a four-year letterman for the Green Wave football team and an All-Conference USA selection all four seasons. A Thibodaux native, Parenton graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance and earned a master's of accountancy. He attended E.D. White High School in Thibodaux, where he lettered in football and track. He was a three-year starter on the offensive and defensive lines and a two-time first team 3A All-State selection.
Parenton and his wife, Jenna, have one daughter, Scout.
