Paul Zimmer enters his 17th season with the New Orleans Saints and his second as an area scout.
He moved into the full-time college scouting position in 2021 after spending eight seasons as the club's college scouting coordinator, having also added area scouting responsibilities seven years ago. In that position, he was responsible for maintaining the day-to-to day operations of the club's college scouting department and its scouting staff, as well as processing and organizing information on draft-eligible players. In addition to these duties, in 2017 he took over as the area scout for colleges in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri. For the previous three years he served as the area scout for South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Iowa, and Nebraska.
The Sioux Falls, S.D. native served as a video assistant from 2010-13, where his primary duties were filming all games and practices, organizing weekly game film from other teams and creating specialized cutups for the coaching staff. He first joined the club as a ticket and suite sales account executive in 2007.
Zimmer played rugby at Northwest Missouri State and graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in marketing.
