Shone Gipson, a 22-year National Football League veteran, enters his fifth season as the New Orleans Saints' head athletic trainer.
Prior to coming to New Orleans in 2020, Gipson served the majority of his NFL athletic training career with the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns. He served as head athletic trainer of the Bills (2015-17), promoted after 12 seasons as an assistant athletic trainer. He served as an assistant athletic trainer with the Browns (2018-19).
Gipson received a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training from the University of Houston in 1999, where he served as a student trainer for the Cougars' athletic teams. Following his graduation, Gipson served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Stephen F. Austin (1999-2001), serving as a summer training intern with the New York Giants (2000) while receiving a master of education in secondary education/athletic training emphasis. He served as a season-long assistant athletic training intern with the Bills (2002-03), before joining Texas A&M as an assistant athletic trainer for men's basketball and golf (2003-04), then returning to Buffalo (2004). He received his first NFL athletic training experience with an internship with the Washington Commanders (1998).
