Will Martinez enters his fifth season with the Saints and first as the team's combine scout, after serving for the last two years as the club's scouting coordinator.
As the club's combine scout, Martinez in his position works for the Saints and the National Scouting Combine. Phillips' reports on college prospects are shared with other teams that are members of the service. Coming to New Orleans in 2019 following graduation from college, Phillips served as a scouting assistant with the Saints for two seasons before being promoted to scouting coordinator in 2021.
Prior to joining New Orleans, Martinez served as a recruiting assistant at the University of Georgia in 2018, where he identified, evaluated and marketed football recruits within the Bulldogs coaching staff members' assigned regions and positions, while directly assisting in the program's recruiting operations for travel, official/unofficial visit itineraries, summer camps and film. He also managed a staff of student assistants in the Georgia recruiting department.
Martinez received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee in 2018, where he was a wide receiver for the Volunteers' 2015 and 2016 bowl teams and served as a student assistant in 2017, working with the defensive and special teams coaches. Martinez's father, Willie, owns nearly 40 years of coaching experience and currently serves as secondary coach at Tennessee.
