An all-access pass to the Saints at the 2016 NFL Combine
NewOrleansSaints.com shadowed receivers coach Johnny Morton at last week's NFL Combine
White smoke doesn't seep from beneath the hotel room door, signaling that a momentous decision has been achieved.
Rather, New Orleans Saints receivers coach John Morton exits the room, takes a seat in the pool chairs aligned outside it – the necessity of hours of on-and-off waiting serving as the mother of that innovation – and waits for the next time that he'll be called upon to enter the room.
The Saints were in full swing at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis last week and while the room at the Crowne Plaza hotel wasn't their headquarters, it certainly was the center of the franchise's football universe on several of the nights that the coaches, scouts and front office personnel were in town, a place where the getting-to-know-a-draft-prospect process took center stage.
NewOrleansSaints.com was given the opportunity to shadow Morton for several days after he arrived in Indianapolis for the Combine, and to receive a behind-the-curtain peek at his participation in the process.
