Top 10 Most Mocked Players to Saints (3/31 - 4/6)

1. Will Johnson (CB, Michigan)

Michigan defensive back Will Johnson celebrates after intercepting a pass during the first half of an NCAA college football game against Ohio State, Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

"The Saints have been linked to potentially drafting a quarterback at the No. 9 spot, but I think they pass on that option and instead take one of the best players in the draft. Will Johnson's stock appears to be falling a bit—likely an "out of sight, out of mind" situation due to his injury this past season. But make no mistake: he has all the physical tools to be a lockdown corner from day one. The Saints traded away Marshon Lattimore this past season, but with this pick, they fill that void with a young, talented playmaker who's already shown elite ability on film during his college career." - Keith Sanchez

"With Brandon Staley in town, I wonder if someone like Will Johnson would appeal to the Saints, given his ability to play in either zone or man coverage. I considered Tetairoa McMillan and Will Campbell as well, but with the age of some of the team's defenders, they might want to get younger on that side of the ball." - Matthew Jones

"The Saints are in an interesting spot here, as they could take or address another position such as edge rusher or receiver. I'm going with the top cornerback on the board. Johnson would give the Saints a big and productive cornerback to add to their secondary. Lance Zierlein compares him to Panthers CB Jaycee Horn." - Nate Bouda

2. Will Campbell (OT, LSU)

LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell (66) celebrates with fans who stormed the field after an NCAA college football game against Alabama in Baton Rouge, La., Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022. LSU won 32-31 in overtime.

"The Saints have plenty of directions they can go, but taking an offensive lineman with potential versatility is usually a good move. Add on Campbell being potentially the top overall player left on the board, and this pick makes a lot of sense." - Seth Quinn

"Drafting a cornerback would make sense for the Saints, but Hunter will be long gone, and this seems too early for Michigan's Will Johnson or Texas' Jahdae Barron. Helping new coach Kellen Moore by bolstering the O-line is a good alternative. Campbell, who's from Monroe, La., ran a 4.98 40 with a 1.76 10-yard split to go with a 32-inch vertical and 9-5 broad jump. Some may take issue with his arm length — measured at 32 5/8 inches at the combine and 33 inches at LSU's pro day — but he won't look overmatched on the edge in the NFL, according to the coaches I've spoken to." - Bruce Feldman

3. Shedeur Sanders (QB, Colorado)

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders (2) in the second half of an NCAA college football game Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, in Boulder, Colo.

The Saints have been notorious traders over the last decade, moving up in Round 1 a whopping 6 times. Most recently, in 2022 going up five spots for Chris Olave and up 11 spots in 2023 for Bryan Bresee. In 2025, they think about it, but stand pat at 9, and the Quarterback of the future falls gracefully into the lap of the Saints. - Cody Carpentier

4. Ashton Jeanty (RB, Boise State)

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (2) runs with the ball against San Diego State defense in the first half of an NCAA college football game, Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, in Boise, Idaho. Boise State won 35-13.

"The Saints could go marching in a number of different directions here, but with new head coach Kellen Moore riding a strong rushing attack to a Super Bowl victory and having ties to Boise State, I don't think the idea of New Orleans drafting Ashton Jeanty to pair with Alvin Kamara has been talked about enough." - Jason Pruett

"As Alvin Kamara enters his age-30 season, the Saints might look for the running back of their future. Kamara's efficiency hasn't dwindled yet, setting them up for an explosive short-term backfield under new head coach Kellen Moore. While this might look like a luxury pick, it's hard to imagine a player of Jeanty's caliber falling much further than No. 9." - Dave Kluge

5. Jalon Walker (Edge, Georgia)

Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker (11) sets up for a play against Alabama during the second half of an NCAA college football game, Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

"Walker's skills are an ideal match for new defensive coordinator Brandon Staley's scheme. Walker can rush off the edge or play off the ball in coverage and to stop the run." - Chad Reuter

"The Saints defense struggled mightily in 2024, ranking 30th in total defense (379.9 total yards per game allowed) and 31st in rushing yards per game allowed (141.4). Drafting the 2025 class' No. 2 edge rusher prospect, Georgia's Jalon Walker, who won the 2024 Butkus Award as college football's best linebacker, should provide some much-needed juice to this unit." - Garrett Podell

6. Tyler Warren (TE, Penn State)

Penn State tight end Tyler Warren (44) plays against Villanova during an NCAA college football game in State College, Pa., on Saturday, Sept.25, 2021.

"Sign me up for the best pass catcher for the Saints here regardless of position. Warren exploded on the scene with a season at tight end that stands as one of the greatest college football has ever seen. Warren showed athleticism matched with top-end pass catching prowess that will make him a no.1 option in a passing game for many teams. Chris Olave likely still holds that title for now, but he'll appreciate a guy like Warren taking some heat off him." - Richie Bradshaw

7. Armand Membou (OT, Missouri)

Missouri offensive lineman Armand Membou (79) sets up at the line of scrimmage during the first half of an NCAA college football game against Alabama, Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

"The Saints could go cornerback here (it's their biggest need), but in this scenario they aim to shore up the offensive line with Membou, who can step immediately at guard and eventually move over to tackle." - Maurice Jones-Drew

"The New Orleans Saints have needs on both sides of the ball. A wide receiver or edge rusher would make sense at No. 9, but the chance to pair Taliese Fuaga up with another young, talented tackle could be a great idea. Armand Membou has always stood out physically with his length, agility, and power. In 2024, his technique caught up to his athleticism, making him a well-rounded prospect. He could be eased into the lineup as a rookie before eventually starting at tackle or guard." - Jacob Infante

8. Jahdae Barron (CB, Texas)

Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron (7) celebrates a defensive play against Arizona State during the first half in the quarterfinals of a College Football Playoff, Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, in Atlanta.

"Barron has been quietly flying up draft boards. He could be a low-key great pick for New Orleans." - Nick O'Malley

"Veteran GM Mickey Loomis could go in any number of directions. But given he's lost CBs Marshon Lattimore and Adebo in the past six months...Barron is the type of highly capable – and versatile – defensive back who can upgrade this secondary in any number of roles." - Nate Davis

9. Jaxson Dart (QB, Ole Miss)

American team quarterback Jaxson Dart, center, of Mississippi, throws a pass during the first half of the Senior Bowl NCAA college football game against the National team Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, in Mobile, Ala.

"Dart's stock has been on the rise and it seems like he's firmly in the 1st Round. Quarterbacks always are going to go higher than they should due to the positional value. Just look at Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix both going top 12 last year. Because of that and the need the Saints have long term at the position, Dart's stock gets pushed up and he goes top 10. " - Steven Cheah

10. Tetairoa McMillan (WR, Arizona)

Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Stewart (4) tackles Mississippi State quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. (0) during the second half of an NCAA college football game on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, in Starkville, Miss. Texas A&M won 34-24. (AP Photo/Randy J. Williams)

"McMillan is simply too good to pass up here. Along with Chris Olave it would give the Saints a fantastic one-two punch at WR that any quarterback should be able to win with." - James Dator
