Jim Dombrowski's Career Background

Former Saints G/T Jim Dombrowski was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 2003 after spending his entire 11-year playing career with New Orleans.

Selected in the first round (sixth overall) of the 1986 NFL Draft by the Saints out of the University of VIrginia, Dombrowski was a force to be reckoned with on the Saints offensive line. A versatile lineman, he started his first three seasons at left tackle then moved to left guard for the remainder of his career. Throughout 11 years in Black and Gold, the Williamsville, N.Y. native played in 151 games with 137 starts, as he was a starter for all four playoff teams and played in all 16 games for eight seasons. His 151 games played ranks 11th in franchise history.

 Jim Dombrowski's College Career

Dombrowski spent four years playing at UVA prior to being drafted by the Saints, where he is recognized as one of the best student-athletes in Cavalier history. As a junior in 1984 and senior in 1985, he was selected as first-team all-ACC and the recipient of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, which goes to the best offensive lineman in the conference. As a senior, he was named a consensus All-American and received the NCAA's Today's Top Six Award, which recognizes outstanding senior student-athletes for their athletic abilities, academic successes, leadership and campus involvement. UVA later honored Dombrowski's place in school history by retiring his no. 73 jersey.

Dombrowski retired following the 1996 NFL season and now resides in Mandeville, La., where he works as a certified financial planner.
