Biography

NFL CAREER – Wood was signed by the Saints prior to the 2017 season opener after spending the 2016 and 2017 preseasons competing for snapping duties with the Dallas Cowboys and has since snapped for all punts and placekicks in all 115 regular season games and seven postseason contests. Selected as a team captain in 2023, Wood provides consistency to one of the league's top special teams units.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS – Signed a four-year contract extension with New Orleans, 7/28/23; Agreed to terms with New Orleans on a four-year contract, 3/18/20; Signed by New Orleans Saints, 9/9/17; Waived by Dallas Cowboys, 9/2/17; Signed a reserve/future contract with Dallas, 1/16/17; Waived by Dallas, 9/1/16; Signed by Dallas as an undrafted rookie free agent, 5/24/16.

2023 – Snapped for punts and placements in all 17 games and recorded two special teams tackles. COLLEGE – Started 33-of-43 games he played over four seasons at Southern Methodist, tallying 137 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles at defensive end and three blocked kicks on special teams…Played in ten games, starting nine and recorded 39 tackles with ten tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two pass deflections and three blocked kicks as a senior in 2015...Appeared in all 12 contests in 2014 and led team with four sacks to go along with 40 tackles….Played in and started all 12 games as a sophomore in 2013 and tied for fifth on team with 49 tackles and six stops for loss, adding a sack and two forced fumbles…Appeared in nine games in 2012, making nine tackles and registering a half-sack...Graduated with a bachelor's degree in applied physiology and health management with a minor in sport management.

PERSONAL – 2010 Class 4A All-State honorable mention selection at Rowlett (Texas) HS, totaling 115 tackles and 10 sacks as senior…First became acquainted with long snapping in college…Participated in 2018 Saints Hall of Fame Golf Tournament in Biloxi, Miss and the 2019 and 2023 tournaments in the New Orleans area.
