Veteran offensive lineman reunited with former teammates Derek Carr and A.T. Perry

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Tuesday that the club has agreed to terms with offensive tackle Justin Herron. Here are five things to know about the Saints roster addition:

  1. A four-year veteran, Herron has appeared in 35 NFL games, 28 with the New England Patriots and seven with the Las Vegas Raiders, accruing 11 starts over his career.
  2. Herron spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. In 2022 with the Raiders, he was teammates with Saints quarterback Derek Carr.
  3. In 2021, Herron was recognized by the Tempe, Arizona police department and received an "Outstanding Service" award for his efforts to help stop an assault that occurred in a public park and restraining the perpetrator until police could arrive. "There are so many heroes that go unnoticed on a daily basis," Herron said at the ceremony. "I was just doing what anyone else would do in that moment."
  4. Herron was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round (195th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Wake Forest. Herron spent four seasons and a redshirt year with Wake Forest, overlapped two years with Saints wide receiver A.T. Perry.
  5. Herron played in 51 games for the Demon Deacons, setting the school all time record for games played and earned third-team All-ACC honors in 2019 during his final season.
