New Orleans Saints legend Jahri Evans has been named a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025, being one of 25 selected to advance to this round of voting from the 167 modern era nominees.
This will be Evans' third consecutive season as a semifinalist; he was selected as a finalist for the class of 2024.
The right guard is the latest addition to the Saints Ring of Honor which he was inducted into during a ceremony on Nov. 17at halftime of the Saints game against the Cleveland Browns. He is also a member of the Saints Hall of Fame, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame
The former fourth-round pick (No. 108 overall) by the Saints in 2006 touts an accomplished resumé that includes six Pro Bowl selections, five All-Pro selections (four First-Team All-Pro), being named to the Saints 50th Anniversary Team and the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team. He also helped the 2009 Saints to a victory in Super Bowl XLIV.
Evans has a long history with the Saints, starting his career with the team and staying with New Orleans from 2006-15 and, after a brief stint with Seattle that ended after he was released prior to the regular season in 2016, returned to New Orleans for that season to start all 16 games before playing his final season in Green Bay in 2017. Evans started all 183 regular-season games he played, 169 with the Saints and has since gone on to work as an offensive assistant on the Saints coaching staff since 2023 after starting out as a training camp intern in 2022.
Evans is joined by defensive back Eric Allen (1995-1997) as a semifinalist. Allen has been a semifinalist for five consecutive years as well as being a finalist in 2024. Allen played three seasons with the Saints and was named to the Pro Bowl in 1995. in 48 games with the franchise, he hauled in five interceptions and recorded 160 tackles (137 solo).
The next step in the modern-era players category will be a cut to 15 finalists later this year.
Reduction voting also will also occur in the seniors, coach and contributor categories. The names of those finalists will be announced in December. Eventually, 20 finalists will be presented at the Selection Committee's annual meeting next year in advance of Super Bowl LIX with 15 modern-era players, three seniors, one coach and one contributor being considered for induction.
While there is no set number for any class of enshrinees, the Hall of Fame's selection process bylaws stipulate that between four and eight new members will be selected with between three to five candidates being selected from the modern-era players.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2025 will be announced at "NFL Honors" in New Orleans On Feb. 6 and enshrined in August in Canton.
