The loss dropped the Saints to 2-1 and improved the Eagles to 2-1.

The Eagles were scoreless until star running back Saquan Barkley broke off a 65-yard touchdown run with 13:17 left in the game.

The New Orleans Saints held on to beat the New York Giants 14-11 on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., but lost quarterback Derek Carr to injury in the fourth quarter.

The Giants had a chance to send the game to overtime but kicker Graham Gano had his 35-yard field-goal attempt blocked by defensive tackle Bryan Bresee in the closing seconds.

In addition to his blocked field goal, Bresee had a sack (his 7.5 for the season) and two deflected passes to lead a defensive effort that kept Giants quarterback Drew Lock largely in check until the fourth quarter. Defensive tackle Khalen Saunders also had a sack. The Giants struggled with penalties (12 for 112 yards) and on third down (five of 19).

The victory improved the Saints to 5-8 and kept the team's faint hopes of winning the NFC South alive. The loss was the eighth consecutive for the Giants who dropped to 2-11 and remain winless at MetLife. Tampa Bay leads the NFC South at 7-6 with Atlanta second at 6-7.
