Zach Strief, the New Orleans Saints longtime right tackle, is the team's nominee for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, the league announced Tuesday.
The award, named after the longtime Pittsburgh Steelers owner, recognizes players from around the league who exemplify outstanding sportsmanship on the field. NFL Legends Warrick Dunn, Curtis Martin, Karl Mecklenburg and Leonard Wheeler will select eight finalists from the 32 candidates. According to the league's release, after the eight finalists are selected, each team's players will submit a consensus vote of their choice for the winner. As in Pro Bowl voting, a team cannot vote for its own player.
Charles Woodson received the award in 2015 and Larry Fitzgerald received it in 2014.
