New Orleans Saints legend Steve Gleason suffered an injury Saturday while exiting his van before speaking at the Gleason Life Skills Volleyball Clinic on Saturday.
Gleason's wife Michel posted on social media Sunday evening that the accident was scary but that Gleason is at home recovering.
"Although he is hurt, it could have benn much worse," Michel Gleason wrote. "Miraculously, he was spared greater injury because he was strapped into his wheelchair and because of the swift action of his care team, a passerby doctor, and family.
"I guess his van his preparing him for his fight against Jake Paul.
"He is at home resting and grateful for this crazy wonderful life and the support and love from everyone."
Gleason, a safety and special team ace with the Saints from 2000-06, released an autobiography this spring and has kept an aggressive schedule of appearances and events.
