Leading up to the team's preseason home opener on Aug. 25, the New Orleans Saints will be unveiling the final updates of the Caesars Superdome's dynamic $560 million transformation, strategically aimed at enhancing the facility's fan experience. The team has proudly committed nearly $180 million toward the $560 million project. The collaborative project funded by the New Orleans Saints, Louisiana Stadium & Exposition District (LSED), and the State of Louisiana has progressed over a five-year period through the work of a team of architects, contractors, designers and construction workers operating around the clock in order to reach its completion by the start of the 2024 Saints season. Saints season ticketholders and their guests will be the first to experience the remarkable evolution of the facility prior to the building hosting the National Football League's showcase event, Super Bowl LIX, on Feb., 9, 2025, the year which will also be the 50th anniversary of the stadium.
The purpose of the Caesars Superdome transformation project is to preserve the character of the building's iconic exterior, while elevating its overall functionality and the gameday experience for all guests. These modernizations bring the facility in line with stadiums being built and renovated across the world, thus keeping the storied home of the Saints and the city of New Orleans as ideal hosts for the upcoming and future Super Bowls, as well as numerous national and international events for decades to come. Equally as important, the Caesars Superdome will continue to serve as a source of great civic pride while providing a significant economic impact for the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana.
Vertical transportation upgrades at the Caesars Superdome
All guests will now have multiple vertical transportation options throughout the Caesars Superdome to assist fans in reaching their seats, enjoying the amenities and leaving the stadium in prompt fashion.
The removal of the stadium's ramp system, which had existed since the building opened in 1975, allows for an interior footprint that provides expanded entry areas, wider concourses and more transit options, backed by a system of escalators, elevators and stairs that promise to enhance traffic flow and move fans in and out and throughout the stadium in a much quicker and in a more efficient fashion.
"With the vertical transportation options that are now available throughout the Caesars Superdome, combined with the personalized guide available on our fans' mobile devices, we are now able to provide all our fans with the most direct and efficient route to both reach their seats and exit the stadium," Saints President Dennis Lauscha said. "The multiple vertical transportation options of escalators, elevators and stairs, to go with significantly wider walkways in the concourses make it a much better experience for our fans getting in and out of the building."
Review your personal game plan
Prior to entering the Caesars Superdome, fans are encouraged to refer to their mobile ticket that shows a personalized guide called the "Personal Game Plan," which includes detailed maps to provide the quickest and most efficient route possible to reach their specific seat location. Using the exterior plaza outside the Caesars Superdome to circumnavigate the building, fans are encouraged to enter at the designated gate noted on the ticket to find the fastest way to their seat, using the information and maps that are included in the Personal Game Plan. This plan will help fans familiarize themselves with entry gates, concourses and amenities. In a change of entry process for all ticketholders in 2024, who have been conditioned in the past by habit to enter the stadium at certain gates or the gate of their choice for a long time, all guests will now have an assigned gate to enter for their mobile ticket and are required to enter the stadium at the assigned gate.
Once the game is over, fans can open their mobile ticket and scroll down to their “Personal Game Plan” to review their Exit Game Plan, detailing the fastest way out the door with state-of-the-art technology. Fans will follow the signs directing then to the stairway or escalator closest to their seats to reach the plaza level and exit the building. Once outside, newly added exit signs will help direct them to their destination.
Vertical transportation upgrades
An upgraded escalator system that made its debut in the stadium's two corners closest to Poydras Street (Northeast – Caesars Gate B and Northwest – Gate H) in 2023 will now be available in the Southeast corner (Entergy Gate D) in 2024. This will allow guests to travel as quickly as possible between the 100 and 650 levels, as well as enjoying enhanced amenities, food and beverage and merchandise options. Fans who enter the stadium at Caesars Gate B, Entergy Gate D and Gate H are now welcomed by an escalator that will whisk them from the 100 to the 200 level, followed by another 120-foot escalator to take them from the 200 to 500 Entergy Terrace Level. The third and final escalator in each quad will carry fans from the 500 level to the 650 Entergy Terrace Level. Fans can exit efficiently postgame by the same escalator system or adjacent stairs.
For premium customers, new elevators are now in place at Ochsner Gate C and Gate G (middle gates) on the East and West sides of the building. The elevator system will have the ability to take fans down to the East and West sideline Bunker Clubs on the ground level, the 200 level Caesars Legends Club and West Sideline Club amenities, and the 300 Hancock Whitney Lower Suites level and 400 Venture Global Upper Suites level seating levels.
As guests arrive to enjoy the game and the state-of-the art amenities, all Saints fans will be able to enjoy more direct access and easier navigation of concourses that have been expanded in width significantly to improve circulation throughout the stadium. Exiting the stadium is now just as easy with the additional option of using a wide-open stairwell system, which runs parallel to the escalator and elevator options.
