New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Month for December. the league announced the award Thursday, Jan. 2 on "Good Morning Football."
Brees threw 15 touchdown passes and had zero interceptions in four December games. The Saints went 3-1 with their only loss being a 48-46 shootout to the San Francisco 49ers, the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.
In the Dec. 16 game vs. the Colts, Brees was 29 of 30 for 307 yards and four touchdown passes, setting the NFL record for completion percentage (96.7). He became the NFL's all-time leader in touchdown passes in that game, breaking the mark held by Peyton Manning.
The Saints (13-3) will take on the Minnesota Vikings (10-6) at 12:05 p.m. Sunday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in a Wild Card game.
