New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been voted the FedEx Air Player of the Week for Week 5, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
Brees finished 26 of 29 for 363 yards with three touchdowns (one shy of 500 for his 18-year career) in the Saints' 43-19 win over the Redskins on "Monday Night Football." In addition, he surpassed Brett Favre and Payton Manning to move into first place on the NFL's all-time passing list with 72,103 yards, breaking the record on a 62-yard touchdown pass to rookie Tre'Quan Smith with 2:36 left in the second quarter.
Other nominees for FedEx Air for Week 5 were Philip Rivers (Chargers) and DeShaun Watson (Texans).
It's the second time Brees has won the award this season. He also won for Week 3 following his 396-yard, three-touchdown performance at Atlanta.
FedEx will donate $2,000 to the USO in Brees' name through FedEx Cares. Earlier this week Brees was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Saints players and coaches celebrate Drew Brees' record game as well as the Week 5 win against the Redskins.
