Five Things to Know about Saints Head Coach Kellen Moore

Saints add Super Bowl winning offensive coordinator as 19th head coach in franchise history

The New Orleans Saints announced Tuesday that Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore will be the team's new head coach Here are five things to know about the Saints coaching addition:

  1. Moore comes to the Saints fresh off a victory in Super Bowl LIX in the Caesars Superdome as offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles. Prior to that, Moore served in the same capacity for the Los Angeles Chargers (2023) and Dallas Cowboys (2019-2022).
  2. Moore has guided effective offenses during his tenure as his offensive units ranking in the NFL Top 10 for scoring in four of his six years. In Dallas, two of his squads finished with the second most passing yards in the NFL while the 2024 Eagles team racked up the second most rushing yards in the league.
  3. The 36-year old transitioned into his coaching career after serving as a backup quarterback for the Cowboys in 2017. He became the Cowboys' quarterbacks coach in 2018.
  4. Moore spent his NFL playing career with the Detroit Lions (2012-2014) and the Cowboys (2015-2017) after going undrafted out of Boise State. In 2015, he played in three games for Dallas, including two starts, and completed 61 of 104 passing attempts for four touchdowns. He set career highs in Week 17 of the 2015 season, throwing for 435 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-23 loss against Washington.
  5. Moore attended Boise State from 2007 to 2011 where he put together an accomplished career going 50-3 over four years as a starter for the Broncos, which is the most wins by a quarterback in NCAA history. He was the first Heisman Trophy finalist in school history in 2010. He set school records with 142 career touchdown passes and 14,667 passing yards, and ranks 3rd and 10th in the NCAA in those categories respectively. He was inducted into the Boise State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.
