The most successful coach in New Orleans Saints history will keep adding to his legacy.
Sean Payton has agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Saints, which will keep him tied to New Orleans through 2024.
Since Payton arrived in 2006, the Saints are 119-74 under his watch in the regular season, with five NFC South Division titles, seven playoff berths and a victory over Indianapolis in Super Bowl XLIV. He has 127 combined regular-season and playoff wins – he also is the most successful playoff coach in franchise history – while compiling the highest winning percentage in franchise history.
He's the second-longest tenured coach in the NFL, behind New England's Bill Belichick (2000) and one of just seven active coaches to have a Super Bowl victory on his resume.
Payton has been the architect of one of the most prolific offenses in league history: The Saints have led the league in total offense six times (they've ranked in the top 10 every season since his arrival), and in scoring twice.
