Saints announce roster moves

The club has signed running backs Javorius Allen and Matt Dayes

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Tuesday that the club has signed running backs Javorius Allen and Matt Dayes and waived running back A.J. Ouellette and cornerback Jordan Wyatt.

Allen, 6-0, 218, was originally a fourth-round draft pick (125th overall) by the Baltimore Ravens out of Southern California in 2015. In four seasons in Baltimore, the Tallahassee, Fla. native played in 54 games with six starts and rushed for 1,249 yards on 340 carries with eight touchdowns and added 814 receiving yards on 129 receptions and six touchdowns. In 2018, he played in 14 contests for Baltimore and carried 41 times for 110 yards, while leading Ravens running backs in receiving with 35 grabs for 196 yards and two touchdowns. In three seasons at USC, Allen carried 417 times for 2,306 yards (5.5 avg.) and 25 touchdowns, while catching 63 passes for 710 yards and two touchdowns.

Dayes, 5-9, 205, was picked up by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh-round (252nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State. In 2017, Dayes played in all 16 games for the Browns rushing for 13 yards on five carries and picking up eight special teams tackles. In 2018, after spending a month on the San Francisco practice squad, he was elevated to the active roster for the last seven contests and picked up two special teams stops. Attending North Carolina State from 2013-16, the Weston, Fla. native played in 45 games for the Wolfpack and carried 550 times for 2,856 yards (5.2 avg.) and 34 touchdowns, adding 98 receptions for 937 yards and six scoring grabs.
