New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has agreed to terms with the following rookies following the conclusion of the NFL Draft: cornerback Dayls Beanum, punter James Burnip, edge Jasheen Davis, safety Elliott Davison, wide receiver Moochie Dixon, tackle Easton Kilty, linebacker Tyreem Powell, guard Torricelli Simpkins III, defensive end Omari Thomas, wide receiver Chris Tyree and running back Marcus Yarns.
Beanum, 6-1, 200, played five seasons at South Dakota State (2020-24) and finished his college career appearing in 67 games, recording 134 tackles (87 solo), 6.5 stops for a loss, 12 interceptions, 34 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick. His 12 career interceptions tie for third in program history. In 2024, he was a consensus FCS second-team All-American, recording 46 tackles (32 solo), one interception, four pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Burnip, 6-6, 236, played four seasons at Alabama (2021-24), with his 43.9 yards per punt ranked second in Crimson Tide history. In 2024, the Mount Macedon, Victoria, Australia native finished fourth in the Southeastern Conference and ninth in the nation with a 45.4 yards per punt mark, while helping Alabama limit opponents to a 1.00 yard per punt return mark that led the nation.
Davis, 6-3, 270, was a five-year letterman at Wake Forest who finished his college career ranked third in school annals with 25.5 total sacks and second in career tackles-for-loss with 51.0. As a senior in 2024, the Snellville, Ga. native started all ten games he played in and finished with 33 tackles (17 solo), 11.5 stops for a loss, 5.5 sacks, six quarterback hurries and one forced fumble.
Davison, 6-0, 190, finished a five-year college career at Incarnate Word (2020-22) and UTSA (2023-24). The Tyler, Texas native played in 58 career games with 41 starts, recording 233 tackles, five stops for a loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, ten interceptions and 21 pass breakups. In 2024, he started all 13 games for the Roadrunners and registered 58 tackles (45 solo), four pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
Dixon, 6-0, 187, is a Carthage, Texas native who played the last three seasons at SMU (2022-24) after starting his college career at the University of Texas (2020-21). In 40 games for the Mustangs, he made 74 receptions for 1,205 yards with eight touchdowns. In 2024, Dixon played in 13 games with eight starts and recorded 21 receptions for 386 yards (18.4 avg.) with an 87-yard touchdown.
Kilty, 6-6, 307, played the first four years of his college career at North Dakota (2020-23), before finishing at Kansas State (2024), playing in 51 career games with 50 starts at both tackle and guard positions. In 2024, the Stratford, Wis. native opened all 13 games at left tackle and was an All-Big 12 second-team selection by conference coaches.
Powell, 6-5, 252, is a Vineland, N.J. native who was a four-year letterman at Rutgers and played in 43 games, recording 201 tackles, 11.5 stops for loss, five sacks, one interception, nine pass breakups, two forced fumbles, career and one fumble recovery. In 2024, he made ten starts as a senior for the Scarlet Knights and logged 57 tackles (29 solo), 3.5 stops for a loss, one forced fumble and two pass breakups, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten honors.
Simpkins, 6-5, 312, was a three-year letterman at North Carolina Central before transferring to South Carolina in 2024. The Charlotte, N.C. native started all 13 games at right guard for the Gamecocks and earned third-team All-SEC honors from the league coaches and by College Football Nation. Prior to transferring to Columbia, Simpkins was a third-team FCS All-American in 2023 at NCCU.
Thomas, 6-4, 325, was a five-year letterman at Tennessee, playing in 61 games with 41 starts, posting career totals of 115 tackles (61 solo), five sacks, 17 stops for a loss, 12 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick. In 2024, the Memphis, Tenn. native played in 13 games with 11 starts, recording 23 tackles (13 solo), six stops for a loss, one sack, four quarterback hurries and three pass breakups, serving as a key piece in the Volunteers' run to the College Football Playoff.
Tyree, 5-10, 192, played his final season at Virginia (2024), after playing four seasons at Notre Dame (2020-23). After spending his first three college seasons at running back, he converted to wide receiver in 2023 and finished his college career with 106 receptions for 1,081 yards (10.2 avg.) with seven touchdowns and carried 243 times for 1,204 yards (4.9 avg.) with eight touchdowns. In 2024, Tyree caught 24 passes for the Cavaliers, had 43 rushing yards, and added 12 kickoff returns for 141 yards.
Yarns, 5-11, 190, played in 43 career games for Delaware and finished his college career carrying 365 times for 2,344 yards (6.4 avg.) with 23 touchdowns. He also caught 64 passes for 812 yards (12.7 avg.) with 11 touchdowns. In nine games for the Blue Hens in 2024, the Salisbury, Md. native carried 133 times for 844 yards (6.3 avg.) with six touchdowns and caught 17 passes for 297 yards (17.5 avg.) with five touchdowns, earning first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors. In 2023, Yarns was an FCS third-team All-American, when he carried 136 times for 939 yards with 15 touchdowns and finished with 1,250 all-purpose yards with 18 total touchdowns.
