Since first signing with the New Orleans Saints as an unrestricted free agent in 2006, Drew Brees has thrown for 4,000 or more yards each of his eight seasons with the club, the only quarterback in National Football League history to throw for 5,000 yards in four different seasons, setting the league single-season yardage record in 2011 (broken by Peyton Manning in 2013) and ranked at or near the top in every passing category, both in single-seasons and over the eight-year period as a member of the Saints, breaking nearly every club record.
In 2013, the Pro Bowl-bound Brees once again enjoying a standout regular season, as he completed 446 -of-650 passes (68.6%) for 5,162 yards, 39 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, three rushing touchdowns and a 104.7 passer rating, ranking among NFL leaders in all statistical categories.
