The New Orleans Saints (2-7) return home this week to host the Atlanta Falcons (6-3) at the Caesars Superdome in Darren Rizzi's debut as interim head coach.
The two clubs have met 110 times in the regular season since the Saints entered the NFL in 1967, with the series knotted at 55-55 apiece.
Three of the last five meetings between the two clubs have been by three points or fewer - two of them Saints wins in 2022, the Falcons win being by a 26-24 edge in this season's first meeting on Sept. 29.
The Falcons have won five of their last six games after a 1-2 start and are coming off a 27-21 victory over the Dallas Cowboys that cemented a comfortable lead in the NFC South.
This Week In The NFC South: The Carolina Panthers (2-7) host the New York Giants (2-7) on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. CT. in Munich, Germany and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-5) will host the San Francisco 49ers (4-4) at noon CT.
SAINTS vs. FALCONS SERIES HISTORY
The Saints-Falcons regular season series is tied 55-55, with New Orleans holding a 25-12 advantage over the Falcons since 2006. Since 1991, 37 games have been decided by eight points or less. The Falcons had a 10-game winning streak from 1995-99, which remains the Saints' longest winless streak against an opponent. New Orleans took 13-of-16
in the rivalry from 1986-94 and Atlanta won nine-straight over the fledgling Saints from 1969-73. Atlanta's most recent mastery over a five-year period ended with a 21-19 win for New Orleans at the Georgia Dome on Nov. 22, 2000. Eight games in the series have gone into overtime.
In the 110 regular season games of the series there has been:
- 2,368 points scored by New Orleans, 2,437 allowed.
- A ten-game Atlanta winning streak from 1995-99.
- A six-game win streak for New Orleans from 1986-89.
- 46 games decided by double-digits.

THE LAST MEETING
Falcons 26, Saints 24; Sept. 29, 2024 @ Mercedes-Benz Stadium – In a contentious rivalry so close that the teams were tied at 55 victories apiece it's no surprise that Sunday's game between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons went down to the wire at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Atlanta kicker Younghoe Koo drilled a 58-yard field goal with two seconds left to give his team a 26-24 win. The win improved Atlanta to 2-2 and dropped the Saints to 2-2. It was Koo's fourth field goal. The Falcons won despite not having an offensive touchdown. FULL GAME RECAP

New Orleans RB Alvin Kamara is an Atlanta native who prepped at Norcross (Ga.) HS, where he rushed for 2,264 yards and 26 touchdowns while averaging 7.5 yards per carry and added 22 receptions for 286 yards and five scores as a senior in 2012, earning Georgia Mr. Football honors from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Kamara and Atlanta linebacker Lorenzo Carter were high school teammates.
Saints Defensive Coordinator Joe Woods and Atlanta Head Coach Raheem Morris served on the same coaching staffs at Hofstra in 1998 and with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2004-05.
Saints defensive back Will Harris is a Suwanee, Ga. native.
