The New Orleams Saints will take on the Houston Texans on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m. To assist fans in preparing for the game, SMG is pleased to provide the following information about Champions Square and the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Champions Square will open at noon, along with club XLIV and Opening Act. All gates at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome open at 1 p.m., with the exception of Gate A Ground Level, which opens to Suite and ADA Patrons at noon.
The entertainment at Champions Square for this game is local band the Top Cats. Food and beverage will be available throughout the Square, including several fan-favorite food trucks, such as Food Drunk, Dirty Dishes, Diva Dawg and Superdome Street Cart.
A fun ZZ Top themed "Top Beard" contest will provide fans with an opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the upcoming ZZ Top concert in Champions Square on Sept. 3. Entry for the contest begins at noon with registration inside the Opening Act at Champions Square. Additionally, entrance into club XLIV provides fans who do not have beards to showcase with another opportunity to win a pair of ZZ Top tickets in an "Enter to Win" drawing.
Opening Act is an indoor, climate controlled sports bar adjacent to the Square. There is no cover charge and over 30 HDTVs inside for patrons who want to pregame in an exciting, air-conditioned environment.
Club XLIV is an indoor, premium VIP lounge. $10 (cash only) to enter includes a complimentary specialty cocktail. New Orleans inspired dishes are available exclusively by Food Drunk.
The national anthem will be perfromed by St. Michael's Special School while the 610 Stompers will be the halftime performance. The Honor Guard for the game against the Texans will be the Tulane University Naval ROTC.
Patrons should allow for extra time to enter the stadium due to the NFL's security measures. Security at all entrances for both the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and Champions Square will include metal-detecting wands, and the NFL's clear bag policy will be enforced. Bags are restricted to one clear vinyl/plastic bag (12" x 12" x 6") per person, and one small clutch purse (6.5" x 4.5" maximum size). The small clutch can be taken in with the larger clear plastic bag, or separately.
