New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees passed the 5,000-yard mark for fourth time in his career Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Brees, the only player in NFL history with more than one 5,000-yard season, achieved the mark with a 41-yard bomb to Robert Meachem for a touchdown in the second quarter. Brees completed his first 11 passes Sunday including two touchdown tosses. Brees entered the game needing 219 yards to crack the mark and his TD pass to Meachem gave him 241 yards with more than a half of football to play.
Brees, who earlier this season passed the 50,000-yard mark for his career, also threw for more than 5,000 yards in 2008, 2011 and 2012.
