Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston hit Vincent Jackson with a 15-yard touchdown pass to give the Buccaneers a 10-7 halftime lead over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The Saints took their first lead of the game on the previous possession when running back Mark Ingram raced into the end zone from 11 yards out with 1:23 to play.
The Saints' offense struggled for most of the first half as the Buccaneers' defense sacked Drew Brees three times and forced him two fumble twice (both of which the Saints recovered). Taking possession with 4:25 to play in the half Brees connected twice with receiver Marques Colston for 24 and 21 yards to set up the scoring run by Ingram.
Tampa scored first on a 55-yard field goal by Kyle Brindza.
Brees was 10 of 14 for 125 yards and Colston led the team in receiving with two receptions for 45 yards. Ingram was the team's top rusher in the first half with 10 carries for 30 yards.
Winston finished the half 8 of 12 for 98 yards with the one TD. Doug Martin ran the ball seven times for 44 yards and Jackson was the top receiver with two catches for 32 yards.
